Christine has dedicated over twenty years to serving Red Deer County, driven by a deep passion for community and a commitment to making a positive impact. She is dedicated to public service. When asked about her community service she says: “It all started with tying shoe laces in the school hallway as a parent volunteer. I love my community and feel so fortunate that I wanted to give back".​

As a three-term councillor and a long-time volunteer of  Red Deer County, Christine has not only served on almost all the many Board and commissions of council but also many external boards, including:​

 

• Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.

• Red Deer Polytechnic Board of Governors.

• Red Deer Hospice Society.

• Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce.

• Children and Family Services of Central Alberta.​​

• Founding Chairperson  Red Deer Catholic Regional schools Education Foundation.

• Founding Chairperson Sheraton Celebrity Dance off.

 

Christine's extensive community involvement has earned her several awards for fundraising millions of dollars for local charities (Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off), strengthening the community and supporting those in need. Her achievements include being recognized as a Woman of Excellence in 2018 and receiving the Mayor’s Special Recognition Award for Community Building in 2017.

 

Over the past twelve years as a Red Deer County Councillor, Christine has valued greatly and takes very seriously the trust residents have placed in her to be their voice in council chambers.

 

Christine has:

Christine is proud of the county’s many successes but recognizes areas for improvement. Despite fierce opposition, she has consistently listened to  ratepayers, advocating for improved oversight, public disclosure, and financial responsibility. Her refusal to support the 2022, 2023, and 2024 budgets stemmed from concerns over the Broadband project’s lack of progress reports, significant over-budget issues, and unsustainable debt financing for operating activities and capital plans. Christine’s motion for a forensic audit reflects her commitment to transparency and ensuring tax dollars are spent wisely, prudently, and for projects that benefit ratepayers economically.​

 

Now, with her rich experience in community service and council, Christine is excited to announce her candidacy for Mayor of Red Deer County. She looks forward to listening and working openly with residents to ensure a brighter, sustainable future for Red Deer County rooted in transparent  ratepayer focused decision making.
